Justification

Justification is comprised of several different facets. It involves repentance, a forsaking of all sin, and a deliverance from sin.

• Repentance ~ a turning from ALL sin!

Matthew 21:28-31 But what think ye? A certain man had two sons; and he came to the first, and said, Son, go work to day in my vineyard. He answered and said, I will not: but afterward he repented, and went. And he came to the second, and said likewise. And he answered and said, I go, sir: and went not. Whether of them twain did the will of his father? They say unto him, The first. Jesus saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you.

• Forsaking ~ a person must forsake ALL sin!

Proverbs 28:13 He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.

• Deliverance ~ God has delivered His people from ALL sin!

Colossians 1:13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son…

Luke 1:73-75 The oath which he sware to our father Abraham, That he would grant unto us, that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies might serve him without fear, In holiness and righteousness before him, all the days of our life. When a person has turned to God, by faith in the shed blood of Jesus Christ, with a heart of TRUE repentance God will Justify them, or make them holy.

1 Peter 1:15-16 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

II Corinthians 7:12 Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

• Separated from sin ~ God's people do not commit sin!

I John 3:6-9 Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him. Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

According to these scriptures, a person is not saved if they still sin.

So then, to be justified is to be saved from a lifetime of committed sin.
