Where Salvation Makes You a Member

How do you explain this to a new sheep?

John 10:16
And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.

Let's break down this verse.

1. "I must bring".
It is still the desire of Jesus today, that those sheep who are sincere and tired of the sin that is practiced in the religious world, may hear the calling to come out of false religion.

Jesus is calling them to "Come out! Come out!"

Rev. 18:4 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.

There are plagues and chastisement for those who choose to remain in those circles of denominations.  That's why He said, "I must."

2. "There shall be one fold".
If Jesus said this, I must believe it. One, and only one.

Why? So that lost sheep will know which fold to come to.

1 Corinthians 14:33
For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.

3. One shepherd.
That shepherd is Jesus.  He is the one who leads His fold, not the pastors.  Why?

John 10:11
I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.

It wasn't the disciples, nor the apostles, nor pastors, nor you that gave their life for the church, but Jesus Christ the Son of God.  It is He that is the head of the Church.

Isaiah 9:6
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Ephesians 5:23
For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.

Colossians 1:18
And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.

Don't misunderstand what Jesus is saying.  This does not mean that there is no need for a pastor in the local congregation, for we know that they are called by Him to feed the sheep, not by their own wisdom and ideas, traditions and customs, rules and regulations, but lead as they are guided by the Word and the Spirit of God.  It is the Word and the Spirit of God that must guide the Churches of God--not man, not the deacons, not the board, not past experience, not pioneer ministers, nor that "one" in each generation and/or group that seems to think he has the answer to "straighten out" the Church of God. And definitely not through pastoral authority.

Pastors and saints of God, let the Word and the Spirit have its way so that when Jesus calls a sheep to His "one fold" they won't be in confusion and say, "Which one? They all say Church of God."
